What software should i use to record from composite video to my PC?

I have a mini DV camcorder but i cant seem to get the fire wire to work on my computer so i want to use the composite input on my ausus tv tunner card to record the movies i have on it. I also need to use this connection to record off a super-8 video camera and a few vcr tapes.

I got the TotalMedia 3.5 with my tuner card but every time i try to capture off the composite input it freezes the frame and stops recording( and no, im not hitting capture frame) it work for about half a minute one time i tried it but thats *** good as i have gotten.

So what is a good free(or at least has a free trial) software that i can do this with?|||Download Adobe Premier. It's the most professional program you'll find out there.
